I don't remember having read this before, but I thought I did as a child. I am continuing to enjoy L'Engle's Time Quintet series. This story reminded me of George MacDonald's "Lilith".

I'm glad I re-read this book. I can still remember the first time I devoured it. I can actually picture myself reading it then, what must now be over 35 years ago. It was the beginning of my fascination with theoretical physics, cosmology, and time theory. Looking back, I can also appreciate now how this book helped undergird my then nascent view that faith and science are not inherently antithetical.

I have read this book many times, but it has been probably ten years since the last time I read it. This last reading that I just completed was a bit disappointing. There is definitely some sage wisdom in this book. However, there is also many platitudes that don't accurately reflect the complexity of the real world. I'm not sure that I will read this book again.
