Her gaze swept past him, and she felt her breathing quicken. Castell Sidi stood before them.

He tried to push himself upright, but something hung on to him tightly. He struck out at the thing, bubbles emerging from his lips. He blinked and the water stung his eyes, but there was nothing to see, nothing to hear.

“Oh,” said Ellis, “I’m pretty sure he thinks we’re having some illicit romance and your family disapproves of me.”

“It’s a dead person,” she said, taking a swig. “A risen corpse. You saw one. I shouldn’t have to explain it to you.”

“I know.” Bram gathers me close and brushes gentle kisses to my lips. “But I’ll spend the rest of my life never getting tired of hearing you say it.”

The ground disappears beneath my feet as Bram cuts upward. Then the motherfucker tosses me, and I’m weightless for one horrifying breath before he catches me in his arms.

I ride his mouth, grinding down on his tongue with an abandon I never would’ve shown with a past partner. Bram seems to love it, if his growls vibrating against my clit are any indication.
