Finished. The story of the Romanovs, the important historical moment are emincely interesting. And still having a bearing on the political scenery today. The rest of the book contains family tree, footnotes etc. I will read those too.

Fun, humorous short chapters. I like Faricy's books. Light PI reads with off beat cases. This one concerns ice cream truck competitors, murder and mayhem.

WW2 military strategy so far seen from Patton's perspective. Done interestingly if you enjoy the subject.

DeGaulle has always been a distant, cold figure to me. This work is interesting and gives a new insight ( to myself, anyway) into a man who shaped the world at a time of great turmoil and the country he shaped. France

William Manchester is both a great social historian and a excellent writer on his subject interests. This book melds social, political and military histories and in a highly interesting readable format.

Appropriate title. The particular events discussed were earth shaking. To contemplate the utter destruction and degeneration of humanity and then be shown that humanity perseveres is amazing.
