Having a first nations policeman threaten what was essentially a starlight tour in the Yukon feels a little tone deaf. Despite that, this is pretty much everything I wanted from The Gathering book 1. Isolated setting. Unsettling murders. Strange, corporate overlords. Wonderful.

I think I've broken myself and I can't read anything but Armstrong anymore. Rip.

First novella was cute! Well, as cute as a story about human trafficking can be.

The contrast between Duncan (Neutral Good Autistic) and Omen's Gabriel (Neutral Evil Autistic) is incredible.

So sad this is the last book in the series - both because I love these characters so much, and because I have yet to feel satisfied with an ending to one of Armstrong's long-term series. Oh well, at least there isn't a messy love triangle destined to be solved in the last few chapters of the book like in the twelve other books I've read of her's this year!

Valentina is unlikeable and unhinged and reading this is like watching a bus crash in agonizingly slow motion. She cannot stop making things worse for herself and I am kind of loving it.

the unhinged, paranoid MC is interesting, but I'm finding the writing a bit hard to get through. The flowery prose is great in some places, and dragging in others.

My first ARC in quite a while! Something about the writing style has me a little off side but I'm sure I'll grow into it.

Love how everyone is like "wow derek sucks" because I know derek sucks but he's still my favourite character from this series.

Also wild that it took an ENTIRE SECOND TRILOGY to get a resolution to the Buffalo Gang storyline.

I have not read this since High School and since I'm eagerly awaiting the final Rip Through Time book, I figured it was as good a time as any to jump back into my first Armstrong series.

There is something so funny about Gabriel going "exactly six weeks after her breakup is the optimal time to make a move according to my schedule" and him being RIGHT. Also funny it took this long for me to come around to Ricky as a character. His adamant refusal to be the jealous ex is admirable and likely to backfire.

Also also I love how self aware Olivia has become about not being a good person.

Every time I think Gabriel is being kind of normal they switch to his pov and I remember he's a madman

The lack of urgency to investigate the baby that was abandoned on their door is both baffling and distressing.

The love triangles upon love triangles is a tad annoying. Ricky is annoying and feels forced. Gabriel is the worst and only gets worse and yet I prefer Gabe somehow.
