Sartre admitted that freedom exists only within a situations, you ain't free to fly by flapping your arm but free to invent the airplane, the problem still remains, systemic slavery, and his answer not satisfied me, he said the individual is free only to extent that they can revolt against the situation, but we ain't we should change that situation so freedom becomes a livid reality? not just a mental state.

There's a hunger for printed word that Kafka once confessed to his diaries, the thirst has finally found its way into me, too.

I find myself siding with Naville over Sartre since my earlier doubts about the slavery concept align perfectly with his points. Naville argues that true freedom isn't just an internal choice but there's a victory won through political struggle and material world, he forces us to look at the physical needs and social structure that Sartre overlooked(?). It's telling that Sartre took these critiques seriously.

Man is indeed what he makes of himself, I agreed, regardless of external morals or religious believe. But a question remains with me, one that Sartre himself wrestled with, "What if someone is born into literal or systemic slavery and never granted the opportunity to change their path? If their possiblities is barred by the world before they even take their first step, is it their lack of change or an error?"

The lecture is good tbh, it clarifies many misconceptions of Existentialism by certain groups that I won't get into here. Paperknife analogy led us to reflect on smth people often debate: are we born with a specific purpose or do we exist first and then create that purpose?
