Well it’s exciting now! Definitely some lag time for set up of exciting moments and battles but the Helm’s Deep chapter got me back into it!

WHY did they cut the tree lore so short in the movies??

Is the patter of feet when they’re in the mountain pass and they stop that Frodo hears Gollum?

I still find myself skimming over the tales/songs because I just don’t care enough to look for the foreshadowing or relevant history in them. It’s made progress through a bit easier.
I have gotten used to the style of world building but I also skim those parts still as I find the way Tolkien does this to be too much.

Great once I made it past the prologue which was written far too densely for my liking.

Loving how awful the main character is so far. As hateful and conspiring as we want to imagine influencers truly are.

I know every story needs a villain but Fen is so insufferable. I have felt relief at the parts of the book where he is not around.
