LOVE this book. Yes, the beginning was a spoiler, but the story draws me in so I'm not skimming and trying to get to the part from the beginning (if that makes sense).

Love the characters & their long history. It's deep and sweet.

Reading about the Palisades Fire one year later is gripping. Did not realize water dropped by helicopters or planes could evaporate before hitting the ground (or that water from hoses could evaporate before hitting a fire). I can absolutely see this book becoming a huge bestseller.

This is...compelling. I worry about Karen's mental health. I like her. I'm scared for her, even though she's a badass. Adam is...currently talking with Marty, which is a fascinating juxtaposition.

So. Yes. First half is great!!
