Part 4: Interception (24th September-21st October 1914)

Investigation in full swing as deemer is put in charge if intercepting the letters at the Post Office near his house. War getting worse and Venetia wants to end the affair. PM thinking of stepping down … Deemer closing i.

Deemer obtains job as gardener of the grounds of the Stanley House, gets closer to the family and is able to gather knowledge that proceeds past intrigue. Reads post from the PM meant for her and finds out he has sent telegrams and even letters from the queen. Investigation must be opened but has to be delicately handled.

Part 3 - Investigation (5th August-6th September 1914)

Chapter 12:
First realisation to the reader that the scandal is getting exposed. Deemer found the scrupled up piece of paper that the PM chucked out of the car. Police (2 of them) are aware it’s the PM and his car but not sure who the woman…

Chapter 11:

Confirmation of the start of war as Germany invade Luxembourg. PM thinks war will be over by Christmas, Kitchener says 3 years. Still haven’t seen each-other (!) - what a shame for them.

Germany declared war, still hasn’t seen Venetia.

Austria declared war on Serbia, Venetia away but both still sending letters. Getting closer to Britain joining but not wanting too.

Part 1 - Peace (2nd-23rd July 1914)

Venetia Stanley - 26, love 'affair', has status, intelligent and single, likes the risk
H. H Asquith - PM, bored but interested, likes sharing documents, daring and both in love
Deemer - police officer, going to investigate affair(?), unmarried, both parents dead.
War Breaking Out - suspicion rising, Franz Ferdinand shot, unrest in Berlin.
