A fast-paced, standalone book and I’m enjoying this more than Fourth Wing.

Let me just cry for the death of world building. And why oh why did the editors let this book be published with lots of modern slangs?! I’m fully convinced that the people who liked & loved this book were a bunch of dogs in heat.

The writing leans more on the contemporary style instead of romantasy. The modern words….ugh not good and let’s not start with the plot armor!

Violet has everything now and yet she’s still not interesting 🫩 I bet it will take me a month to finish this. Until now I’m not attached to any of the characters. Like I don’t care if they all die. I was even imagining Manon and her 13 will save the day 😭

I think our dear violence is in heat. Every time Xaden appears she automatically becomes a drooling tiny creature 🤦🏻‍♀️ is this the level of literature, plot, writing etc. that we will have from now on? If yes, then the bar is so low.

I’m only finishing this because I already bought the book before buying myself a kindle.

Professor Carr appeared out of nowhere and snapped Jeremiah’s neck because he is inntinnsic (can read minds). That was so anticlimactic. It was poorly written. Again. I guess this is why I prefer high fantasy.

I can’t stop thinking about Mages of the Wheel series while reading this. I guess lesser-known authors are better than this “thrilling must-read global phenomenon” book.

I’m reading a fan-made fiction alongside Fourth Wing. The unknown author (who writes for leisure) writes BETTER than the well-known author. I know I should just drop this book but I want to know if the pacing, plot, character development etc. will get better. I’m hoping that the hype around this book will be justified or maybe the people who gave this 5⭐️ or more are only lusting after Xaden.

I know almost everyone loves the empyrean series. So far, 4th wing is kind of okay-ish book. And btw, I would love Jack Barlowe to be a totally bad enemy haha he’s my favorite character. And I’m a sucker for enemies 😅

I’m not feeling it…..

All I know is that if I found out heaven was real and got there first? I’d hang back in the waiting room and save you a seat.
