Author’s writing tends to be repetitive, but I do like these characters.

Slow start, but I’m absolutely caught up in this story! Thought it was fiction when I suggested it for my book club, but it’s actually a cross between a memoir and a self-help book! I hate those, but I love this. Very authentic. A few criticisms: 1) Author Jessica Pan is a lousy audiobook narrator. 2) She should have shared the transcript of her 5-minute “Amarillo” standup routine.

Not as good as I’d hoped, I’m still plugging away only about a third of the way through and it’s a tough go.

Not loving this one, which is unheard of for a Gamache book.

Masterman’s first Brigid Quinn was still her best, but this book, 4th in the series, has an intriguing premise. Supposing there was a third killer in the 1959 “In Cold Blood” murders made infamous by Truman Capote, the Masterman creates a bizarre and kind of icky bad guy with a strange connection to Quinn’s husband. Wish it would get optioned by Netflix!

A little uneven - mostly captivates, but some falls flat.

Very well written, and keeping my interest.

I'm a devoted follower of this series and love these characters. But... ugh. Book had a great start and kept me interested, as always, until Robin went undercover to infiltrate that cult.

I'm wallowing in the goings-on inside Church of Whatchamacallit and couldn't care less. JK is certainly taking her bloody time getting things to happen. Somebody please tell me when things pick up so I can skip to that chapter!

It's not Hole, in Norwegian the protagonist's surname is pronounced "HOO-leh."

A third of the way through and not sure I'm going to finish. Does not feel the least bit like the late 1970s early 80s - when the story starts. In fact it gives off a more 40s or 50s vibe. I don't feel invested in or connected to any of these characters, except maybe William. Many have pointed out that it reminds them of Little Women. A pale attempt.
