I’m finding this book a challenge. While the prose is often beautiful, even shimmery, some lines or sentences are written in other languages that I can’t understand, making me feel that I’m missing something. The author takes a long time to get to the point of her stories. I have to read passages more than once to figure out what’s going on. It can be a tedious slog at times and utterly compelling too.
