ch 14 -- explanation of the convocation
there is a five day conference of the cover businesses (think Bohemian Grove) while the villians meet at the most expensive hotels.
meets with Anton Dobrev, who claims his uncle asked him to send the vase with the inscription "suck it, motherfucker"
asks to speak to Charlie alone, without Til being present.

ch 13 - late night stroll to the lagoon
bonkers conversation with the dolphin -- will avert a labor strike until learn whether returns alive from the evil villian conference.
learns that all of the dolphins and cats are clones.
additional 1:1 with Hera -- gathering allies.

ch 12 covers the business model of super villain enterprises
major funding source is subscription fees

relocates to the secret lair with the dormant volcano
starts negotiations with the dolphins labor dispute
skips out on first day orientation
captures a CIA agent, debriefs, and chooses method of death

Death by chili.

Story 1 is Hyenas about criminals as predators and getting in over one's head. Story 2 is a crossover show with Andrew Vych that explores how Leonard got away with burning down the crack house so many times.

8. In the River of the Dead -- outwitting drug dealers trying to retrieve their package from the bottom of the river.
9. Stopping for Coffee......and watching the clash of generations between Old South and post-Korean War South.
10. Apollo Red -- a story about his father and how getting into fights is an inherited generational value.

Story #2 - Tire, aka How Leonard Met Hap. This is different from the television series and so I had to jump to the afterword to read Joe Landsdale talk that this is the authorized canonical version. It starts with, hey that looks like trouble down there in the woods in the middle of nowhere and in the middle of the night.........should we check it out or just go back home? Check it out always wins.

Story #1 - The Parable of the Stick. Hap and Leonard talking about what's wrong with schools today in teaching non-violence over self-defense. Which is a perfect start -- the frequent theme of this series of novels is their inability to walk away from situations and conflicts that everyone else on the planet would (easily avoid).

Chapter 15 tells the backstory of one of the many members of this crew. This is another shout-out to the story of Cynthia Ann Parker and reads like an incident from Empire of the Summer Moon : Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History.
