the ball was far from being in Jennie’s court. To Jennie, the ball had been lobbed at her when she wasn’t even playing the game.

When asked by a novice why she, the foundress, was given such lowly work, she said: The deeper a tree sinks its roots into the soil, the greater are its chances of growing and producing fruit.

Spoiler?

we just wanted to help two young women who seemed unable to be truly happy because of something that happened which was neither of their faults.

Now, are you going to give directions or should I get my map out?

Well, it is good for the brain’s hippocampus to read a map but I think it’s also good to use one’s memory, so I’ll do that.

‘Vienna is stunning. It’s clean, it’s impressive, and the people are lovely. I wondered whether I’d be lost given I don’t know an ounce of German.’

‘It’s so easy to fall into using English though because so many people speak it. The kids here learn English at school from a young age.’

I have online access, I’m just not much good at using it. Greta and I were great believers in using the bank’s facilities so that it wouldn’t close down like so many are doing these days.

she had old cabinetry in a faded blue with tiles that had seen better days and water that no matter what setting you put the thermostat on, seemed to choose what temperature it wanted to be. But her apartment felt like home. And she valued that feeling more than anything else.

‘No need to fuss.’ Bea, eyes closed, still managed a little smile.

‘There’s every need and we will make a fuss.’

Reprobus henceforth became known as Christopher, “Christ-bearer”. St. Christopher is often depicted carrying Christ Child on his shoulders across river. Child Jesus is holding world in his hands.

Due to lack of historical evidence for his existence(!), St. Christopher’s feast day (July 25) was removed from worldwide Catholic calendar in 1970, although it is still celebrated in some local churches.

Christmas Eve was her favorite day of the year. Not Christmas Day, with all its glitz and expectations, but the unassuming, quiet Christmas Eve. There was so much hope and happiness in the air, the anticipation of so many good things yet to come.

Aaaaaaaagh. That was it, the final straw. She’d just have to pull up the tiles in the bathroom, dig a tunnel with her hands and go live a new life in Canada.

Drive safe and watch for deer!!

It always reminded her of her dad. He never failed to say it whenever she was driving somewhere. He’d called it the midwestern version of “I love you.”

If another Olympics is what you want, give it whole heart, but if something done for business, money, Patrick, or anybody else, then turn loose of it. Life goes by while you’re chasing things. You’ll never be at same place again. Stop. Look. Think. Choose path. Choose people. Hang on to what makes you laugh, what makes your heart good. Let rest go by wayside & move on w/out wondering what anyone else think.

when you’re talking back and forth with a man in the tone you had last night, it’s not the time for a wedding. I’m no matchmaker, but when the time’s right, and the love’s right, it won’t sound anything like that.

I snort-laugh without intending to. “Uber, Dad. And you don’t have the first clue how to get one.” The man still carries a flip phone and does business by actually calling people. He’s a technology dinosaur.
