I FINISHED THE SEWER TANGENT!!!! (i believe) i’m gonna retire for the night that part sucked my soul out and i’m getting horrible eye fatigue.

i appreciate shedding light on Bruneseau because if it weren’t for this book his name would’ve probably died for good. on the other hand, maybe it would’ve died for good for a perfectly good reason why on earth would i even remotely care for ANY of this i’m getting annoyed.

i’m honestly skimming through this part and i don’t even feel guilty because this, of all tangents, has no possibility whatsoever of tying back to the story.

and so the sewers chapter begins. this book is making me sick to my stomach only to then go on about an inexorably dull tangent.

my heart is sinking this thing really lives up to its name it really is miserable

i can really see why roald dahl is the world’s greatest storyteller he gets your whole nervous system in a bunch and then he just pounces at you with something so incredibly absurd and disquieting i love him

might be a bit on the nose but this is actually genius

the last few pages were so boring. i woke up so excited to read and then of course hugo had to take a detour. i mean it wasn’t all that bad but it to put it in his words, he piled pelion on ossa with all the greek and roman allusions.
