The main character Nailer and his friend Pima come across the a piece of fortune no one can dare to dream about. In a life of scavenging they come across a wrecked beautiful ship full of riches completely untouched only issue is there's a injured young girl aboard. Now they must weigh whether to do the right thing or take a fortune in scavenge.

The setting is just absolutely bonkers in the way that it could actually happen to the world. A new world where humanity fell and is climbing back up again off the remains of the old age.

Its funny how the past is a completely different and alien world than it is today. The way people think is just different.

The "book" is introduced the haggadah is found in Sarajevo during the war and a book conservationer is brought in to help repair the ancient codex. The book starts to dive into what the books history is.

Joker preforms many routine tasks and missions throughout the rest of a quiet april for them. Many worry about their remaining 5 months of deployment but none of the marines are willing to show it.

Joker Company its its nearby sister army unit feel their first big engagement on April 6. The marines are patrolling the city when they come under fire from the local insurgents and spend the entire day fighting through the city trying to regroup with their men.

Joker One Two and Three are contacted and told that an international terror cell has been located in the city of Ramadi. The Jokers create and execute a plan and manage to capture the terrorist and neutralize the cell. The Marines of Joker One also begin to question their thoughts about the population after having children throw stones at them on patrol.

Joker One settles into its new home and realizes that the 150 of them must account for around 350000 people within the city. They complete their first mission, a night ambush, with no success but few problems as well.

Joker One leaves the staging area and starts a 3 day journey convoy towards Ramadi. The have to deal with mechanical failure and communication issues and staying together as a cohesive unit. They arrive in Ramadi to their new home. Campbell talks how it is a completely alien world and how its one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

Joker One is shipped to a staging area in Iraq. As the group full of still raw and green marines continues to train they are briefed to the area they are to serve in, Ramadi the capital of the Anbar province. The Marines have to sit through a lecture about when they are allowed to shoot and when not. As Joker One grows closer to combat their bravado begins to tapper off into grim determination.

Campbell backtracks and describes the events leading to their deployment to an unknown destination but they were told that it was the middle east and that combat was expected. He describes the stress, chaos, and of prepping his men and new recruits for combat. Often going into many nuances which is the magic that makes and fighting force effective.

Marine Officer Campbell was put in command of a 42 man platoon named Joker One. The platoon was assigned to Ramadi, Iraq, Campbells platoon serves seven months fighting in the city and experiences a casualty rate that had not been seen since Vietnam.
