Hod I don’t care about romance between Ione and Elm bc they are literally the same things as Ravyn and Elspeth but Ione is more cold. I want to see the plot. I think the author just decided to add this plot line bc without it the book would be super short.

Tho I am not attached to the characters still. I mean they lack depth for me.

I have noticed that Elspeth is not a “badass” heroine. She cries and does not know how to use blade or fight without the Nightmare.

I have a theory that the Nightmare is the Shepherd king. That’s why he can’t use the cards, knows everything, always speaks with words from the book the king wrote.

Also I like fake dating in fantasy or historical books more than in modern ones bc in that times people didn’t need to kiss each other or do something that two characters are not ready to do. They just need to spend time together.

The Nightmare is obviously Ryuk from death note.
He is like useless for fmc most of the time and makes a lot of jokes.
