I disagree with Jay on a lot of the decisions he makes because he acts like he’s in the US rather than taking time to learn about the culture of where he’s at with his family. And I think it’s because they’re all from the Philippians and he’s from the US and things are just different. Or he’ll do some things that are totally normal in the US but unacceptable there. So that’s why I disagree with Jay.

So for one of my sticky notes I made a prediction and it was that there was a website that Jay had no idea about and if he figured out what it was called he was going to be able to figure out basically the whole mystery with the help of Mia. And my quote for it was “before I hung up, the bookstore owner asked, if Jun’s dead, who’s been updating the site” (Ribay 188).

There are so many unspoken rules that Jay doesn't know about going into the Fillipeans. He goes to church and wants to take off his Barong and he doesn't think anything of it but for them they see it as the fact that "you cannot buy self respect" (Ribay 149). For everyone else it is a sign of respect and jay just sees it as a piece of cloths so he needed to learn the rule for wearing it and why it matters.

I learned that in this book you can't trust anyone. Everyone is out for blood during the drug war including the police. It's so bad to the point where even the government isn't being honest and "due to the government’s lack of transparency regarding drug war deaths, there have been multiple independent efforts to track fatalities" (Kishi article). The government was hiding so many things in a time of need.

I think that my best sticky note is the the fact that the government doesn’t care about whose dying as long as it’s getting rid of the drug war. Jay is looking up Juns death and noticed that “these photographers didn’t want to water anything down” (Ribay 31). And it’s just brutal to look at how they’ve been murdered and the government isn’t doing anything about it.
