Girl so I just got into these forewords fromAngela Davis and Lennox Hinds and oh my god my mind is literally... I cannot. the cycle literally repeats itself. "Why, I wonder, do I warrant such attention? what do I represent that is such a threat?" I already know this is going to be a 5 star read and change the trajectory of how I view the world, our society, people, my life and black womanhood all in one.

I need to read my Sylvia Plath unfortunately... I'm like if Sexyy Red and Sylvia had a love child.

I can see why the bell jar is a cult classic. what a phenomenal read. the complete disregard and carelessness for women's mental health and sexual education is so jarring. the mere mention of lobotomy made me jump. makes me think of specifics that are left out of publications due to it's time or never brought to light and the female author's who are silenced or are not given the same push as their male counterparts.

j kinda hate how relatable she is. Buddy Willhard is a pig. And all men secretly want a virgin. For two reasons: 1) so that she is kept “pure” and they hold onto the idea that she is “untouchable” because the idea of her being with another man disgusts them & what they truly seek is a mother. 2) they want the power of being able to teach her rather than her having more experience perhaps it’s emasculating

—Just because you felt punishment in life doesn’t mean that there isn’t a god or he is a so called vengeful spirit. So if you follow the path of those he bestowed his grace for then you will be blessed and receive his mercy. Which I just take as there are consequences to your actions and you must work everyday to not stray away from good faith

when i first read this chapter i was confused & a bit sadden on why the first chapter should instill fear in me. but then i read, “Guide us to the Straight Way. The way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray.” I understood the belief isn’t that Allah prefaces with anger, it’s that men who have been punished for their bad deeds.

when I pick this book up again maybe all will heal.

firstly sam being married with an infant son while tricking out Patti and supporting her art while Robert is getting caressed at night by David and putting bow ties as gags in his mouth? Duality I guess. Men are sick and I can't imagine being married with their child and this is how they behave. anyway Patti turned that record deal in arrogance imo. Comparing her path others because it was "easy" it was earned.

I have three more days in January to finish this book. mama just set her 2025 reading goal I have to see it through.

I wish I made my progress with this book sooner Tony Morrison the woman that you are is irrevocable. I just read Dorcas point of view and it’s refreshing and intellectual from a young girl and her logic whether it be wrong but so right at the same time I feel like I’m getting more of a sense who the narrator is, but I honestly don’t care not that I don’t care. I just love the journey.

I can't even count the amount of emotions I went through in the last two chapters. "Still March" woah that hasn't been done before and this is just extremely fucking sad and everything and everyone is so fucked up. Cleo my dear Cleo. Honestly I was preparing to handle her dying but thankfully she survived. Her thought process was so scattered but focused at the same time it was unfortunate but so beautifully written.

I’VE NEVER FALLEN IN LOVE WITH CHARACTERS SO QUICKLY IN MY LIFE. I RELATE TO CLEO A GREAT DEAL. AND ITS THIRD PERSON???
