Well, these last 40-something pages have been absolute garbage. I like the idea, but it's done so poorly...only 30-ish pages of this crap to go! It makes Ducks, Newburyport seem carefully crafted by comparison. Incredibly sloppy stuff.

Mixed feelings. Unless I missed some ironic distance between what the narrator's told (his father: how any errors will be world-ending; father's secretaries: that he'lll have to eat the pages he's written & start over if he makes an error) & tells the reader (it's the most important thing he's ever done), why the fuck is he writing out these names like a drunken 5-year-old forced to use their nondominant hand?
