i am liking this more than bell hooks other theory, in general i have a lot of time for her work but sometimes feel like she only scratches the surface. with this book i think it does offer a bit of a different perspective than her usual theory but idk if i will finish it because a lot of it just feels like common sense in feminist theory.

i am really not enjoying this book but want to finish it out of stubbornness.

has lots of weird rape fantasy undertones and sees young women as only their bodies, spectacles that are only known through mens interpretations which idolise their youth. maybe thats the whole point idk, which is why i want to keep reading. i hope the narrator has a change of perspective because its a difficult read atm.
