FINALLY reading this bc franny n nezza have uploaded (most of) their book club streams for this onto youtube and i can follow along now!
which i’m excited to do!! and i think it will help me get thru this (considering i’m not that excited ab reading beau’s story.. i’m still bitter ab how he spoke to/about my girl winter… and i’m also aware this isn’t as well liked as other elsie books, so we’ll see!)

(cont.) .. the dynamic in this relationship doesn’t have the same je ne sais quoi that mag n bj have.. even before learning in mp: lwh what they had between them, and stuff separately too, there was no denying the magnetic pull they had to each other.. ys n jo don’t have that, so their toxicity is simply toxic, not toxic for the sake of a love story between 2 broken ppl that belong together (like those in mpu) :/

jessa hastings does know that relationships can be toxic, but not involve cheating, right?
this is feeling too close to the toxicity that magnolia n bj had, but it’s not hitting the same bc ysolde n joah don’t have the history that the other couple does… nor does joah, specifically, have a backstory, that we know of for now, that explains his behavior.. even if the next book reveals trauma on his part.. it’s a classic mcfadden read! quick n thrilling!
and it’s a GREAT feeling to be reading so much of a book, when i’ve been such a slow reader lately!!! even if i continue to read other books slowly, it feels nice to at least be getting through one book quicker! :)
