Inciting incident: The inciting incident of my book is when the mother passes away. I know this is the inciting incident because it is when the book starts to develop and problems start forming. The book before that point had pretty much no problems to solve and not much development. When Edna comes to replace the mother you notice a large change in the pace of the book.

Predictions: I think that in the later parts of the book, Kai will leave the house after he grows up and will use both his Chinese and American teachings to help him live in the world. I think this will happen because of how the author focuses mainly on things that Kai was taught by his mother and Edna. I also predict that Kai and his sisters will revolt against Edna as their hate builds up.

Topic Antagonist: The Antagonist of my book right now is the Stepmother Edna. Edna is a stepmother who was supposed to act like a mother figure so that Kai would no be too distressed about his mother not being there anymore. Stepmother Edna did not know this and married the father thinking that it would just be the two of them without any children. As a result, Edna is very tough on Kai making her the antagonist.

Topic Supporting characters: A supporting character in my book is the Mom of Kai. I am at the early childhood part of the story so the mom is a large influence on Kai. It showed when the mom died that Kai had taken the traditions and knowledge of a Chinese household. The mother influenced Kai to think of culture to be very important. The sisters and dad did not take Chinese culture as serious as Kai.

Topic Genre: The Genre of my book China Boy is realistic fiction because of all of the things that happen in the book can and definitely happened. The book was probably inspired by the authors life because of all the real problems that the main character goes through that many went through back then. There are no unrealistic things that happen in the book and it is just the life of a Chinese only son growing up.

Protagonist: The book China Boy has a protagonist named Kai Ting. He is a kid who struggles to live in San Francisco because of his small and frail body type and below average physical abilities. He seems smart but confused on how to live while being the only son of a Mandarin family. His mother says that spirits are scared of the father because of his warrior build but they are not intimidated of Kai at all.

5 types of conflict: The conflict for my book is character vs society. The main character has to deal with racism and problems with being an Asian american in San Francisco. He has trouble fitting in with society because of his race and fighting ability. The main character has to work hard so that the other kids accept him.

Point of view: My book is in 1st person narrator. I know this because the Narrator constantly says "I" and only knows the thoughts of the main character. I know what character is the Narrator because of how the story follows that one character and only his thoughts.

My book takes place in San Francisco around the 1950's. The book had stated that in 1944 the main characters family escaped from China to America. The main character was said to be born in America so it should be around 1950. It was in the wake of the Mao's revolution when the character's family fled China.

Nate Montez is finished with Torn
The climax of my book was the battle at Husna and the young martyrs village. I think that this is the climax because it was when the main quest of the story was at the finish and also the part where the story begins to end. There were many parts of the book that were similar but that part of the story fits best as the climax.

I think that the inciting incident was when the main characters group stumbled upon a fight between the young martyrs and the people believed to be the bombers of their village. The reason I think that the inciting incident is because it starts the whole thing of finding out more about the young martyrs. It came a little later in the story than other books but that is what I think started up the main challenge.

My book is quest because the main character and her fellow soldiers are fighting towards the goal of discovering more about the young martyrs and also possibly stopping them too. The main character befriended a captured young martyr and is helping him find out about the people that bombed his village. In return, he is telling them information about the young martyrs. This is all for one goal of ending the taliban.

A supporting character in my book is Yugi and his friends. In this point of the book they only helped to develop the main character and bring more life to the soldiers. Another side character is McQueen who only helps to develop the story further and doesn't do much other than that. Yugi was a good influence to Nielson and his personality brought relief to the reader from the serious parts in the book.

A time that I could visualize what was happening in my head was when Yugi stepped on a mine and started getting shot at by a sniper. The author described the scenery well so that the reader could feel the suspense of the situation. Another time I could visualize the scene was when the soldiers went to the village to investigate. The author described the scene very well so we could feel what the soldiers were feeling.

This book reminds me of another book so I can make a connection with Text to Text. This book is about war so it reminded me about Bamboo People. They are both about soldiers in a war and the struggles of that. Torn is about the Afghanistan war and Bamboo People is about the war between the Burmese and the Karenni.

My character showed how he feels about Burmese soldiers by almost deciding to shoot the Burmese kid before being stopped by his dad and rethinking. The character also shows that he hates the Burmese people by saying that he was lectured several times about his attitude towards all Burmese. The character also said verbally to the Burmese soldier that Burmese soldiers burned his house down and ran away laughing.

The antagonist of my book is the Captain of the military camp. He does not like how the main characters want to escape and how they are not obedient to him. If the people don't obey him they get severely punished.

My book is realistic fiction. I know this because the book is based on real things that happen in the setting of the book. It is also realistic fiction because the story is within human capabilities and it isn't very exaggerated.

The protagonist is a 12 year old named Richard that lost his dad when he was young. He is not strong nor weak physically and he thinks smart. He is very sad about his dad's death and the dad is mentioned a lot in the book. He is very worried about his cousin in the book and goes to find her so that shows that he is a good person. He needed a lot of help from the side protagonist but he helped solve the problem.

The main characters are an old man named Skink and a kid named Richard. The story is about saving Richard's cousin from a man she met online. The inciting incident was when the cousin left for early orientation to an all girls boarding school somewhere far away but Richard found out that the school didn't have early orientation. The story takes place in many places in Florida.

When Richard and the Governor was pulled over I predicted that the police officer was going to help them instead of get them in trouble because the book stated that they were not breaking any laws. I had also predicted that they were going to buy the canoe off of the family when they found out that the kidnapper had abandoned the car.

The main conflict is character vs society because the main character has to find a missing person. The main characters cousin goes missing after she fakes going to a private school to do something with somebody she met online.

The point of view of the story is told in first person narrator. The story is like a mystery with clues so the story is told in only what the main character Q knows. It does not tell us what the side characters know.
