One trait to describe Yanek is lonely because he got separated from all of his family. Furthermore, he will probably never see his family again. Additionally, he even put himself in jeopardy in an attempt to make friends at the camp. "Maybe it was just that I would be lonely in there all day" (90). Yanek made the decision to tell two boys about the opening in the floor because deep down he just wanted some company.

One trait to describe the people in the ghettos is terrified because they don't know if or when they will be captured by Nazis. Furthermore, theirs a high chance they could be shot at any moment. "Nazis shot people for walking around the streets" (42) Imagine not being able to step outside of your house because you could get killed.

One trait to describe Yanek is crafty because he thought of the idea to make the pigeon coop a place to stay. Furthermore, he thought of the idea to use metal bars as a way to keep the German soldiers from getting in. "We can bring up chairs... And a mattress" (35). This shows he's crafty because he can make a home out of the small space on the roof.

One trait to describe David is persistent bc he completely turned his life around. He had and used every excuse to be a loser in life, but one day he decided that he was no longer going to be a miserable excuse for a man. Furthermore, he tried and failed numerous times. "Mediocrity would have been a major promotion." (88). This quote show how he stopped hiding from the truth of himself and wanted to become better.

One trait to describe Trunnis Goggins is sadistic bc he brutally beats his kids. Furthermore, he beats his wife even worse. His abusive gave his wife and his sons a ridiculous amount of trauma. He is a terrible human being, and I couldn't imagine being David as his son. "That was the protocol, and he'd designed it for maximum physchological and physical pain." (28) This shows how disgusting and inhuman Trunnis is.

And they eat abnormal portions for fun then throw it up. "And here in the Capitol they're vomiting for the pleasure of filling their bellies again and again." (80) This quote shows how the capital is oblivious of world problems.

So far this book Gale seems to keep getting let down by Katniss bc she doesn't love him. He was very upset when Peeta proposed to Katniss. Furthermore, when Katniss told him about running away together, he was extremely excited, but then Katniss says that Peeta is coming also. "I can't leave him and Peeta" (98) Katniss says this to Gale and his mood immediately shifts from being overwhelmed with joy to disappointed.

One trait to describe President Snow is menacing because he has an extreme amount of power and is cruel. Like when he threatened Katniss and got in her head. Furthermore, he killed off Seneca Crane, the Head Gamemaker, like it was nothing. And he has no problem with killing anyone. "Him I can easily kill off if we don't come to a happy resolution" (24). This quote shows how cold-hearted and menacing Snow is.

One trait to describe Mrs Napolitano is problematic because every time there was an obstacle she made the process so much longer for everyone else. Furthermore, she doubted Pino every step of the way and always needed to be talked through doing little things. "You're going to have to leave the violin... Never" (102) This is one example of her being stubborn over a little thing; even when her life is on the line.

One trait to describe Father Re is caring because he looks to help people at all costs. For example, he took in many kids and treated them like his own. Furthermore, he rescues the Jews and gets them out of Italy. He is a very selfless man that is very inspirational. "We will save these people even at a greater risk." (Close to 150) This proves how he is willing to take large measures to save people.

One trait to describe Pino is brave because he was willing to rescue the Jewish people; even though it was extremely risky. Furthermore, he had to take them on a hard path on a mountain in the middle of the night. One quote to support my claim is "He was frightened by the penalty for helping the Jews, but he was going to help them anyway." (Page 73) This shows how Pino was brave because he put others before himself.

One trait to describe Pino, the main character, is girl-crazy because he always fantasizes and dreams about girls. Furthermore, even when Anna stood him up, he still would think about her nonstop. One quote to support my claim is when Carletto said "You fall in love with every pretty girl you see." (Page 8) This proves how Pino is girl-crazy because it shows how even his friends think he is obsessed with every girl.

My favorite part was when Katniss and Peeta cleverly forced the game makers into letting them both live. Katniss knew that it would ruin the games if there would be no winner, so she predicted that if they both threatened to kill themselves, they would have to make two winners. Claudius Templesmith said "Ladies and gentlemen I am pleased to announce the two victors" (Page 345) This shows the gamemakers giving up.

One important part is that Katniss and Peeta are actually starting to fall in love. Now, they don't feel forced to kiss, and enjoy it. Additionally, they feel comfortable and safe around each other. Katniss said "Because we're supposed to be making this stuff up, playing at being in love, not actually being in love." (Page 301) This proves how their romance is starting to become a reality.

One shocking part was right before the chapter ends when Rue gets killed. This surprised me because I thought that she would be one of the last people standing in the Hunger Games. Furthermore, Rue was very clever, so I'm astonished how she got caught in the net. Katniss says "She just had time to reach her hand through the mesh and say my name before the spear entered her body." On page 232 Which shows how she dies.

I was shocked when Peeta confessed his love for Katniss during the interview. Out of nowhere he started talking about a girl until everybody realized it was Katniss. Furthermore, it was right before the Hunger Games started. On page 133 Katniss said "I realize, Me! He means me!" This shows Katniss' expression on how she was shocked and confused aswell.

One conflict Katniss faces is how much she should trust Peeta. One moment she is talking about how kindhearted he is. But the next moment she talks about how he is trying to trick her. On page 71 Katniss said "It's not really fair to present us as a team and then lock us into an arena to try and kill each other" This is one of the many times when Katniss is conflicted about how much she should trust her 'teammate'.

One character trait of Katniss Everdeen is brave. She is brave because she volunteered to become a reaping, so that her sister didn't have to compete. Furthermore, she didn't show any signs of weakness on television. One quote to support my claim is when she said "Everyone will make notes of my tears, and I'll be marked as an easy target. A weakling." This shows how she is brave by not giving in to her emotions.

Mrs. Washington was empathetic. Because even though Rodgers tried to steal her purse, she wanted to take care of him. Furthermore, she offered to bathe and feed him. One quote to support my claim was when she said "You ought to be my son. I would teach you right from wrong." This proves how she is empathetic and is willing to take care of him.

One conflict the main character has is with his mom when he blamed everything on the jacket she got him. One thing he blamed on his jacket was his grades. Furthermore, he said that the jacket was the reason why he had lost all of his friends. A quote to support my claim is on page three when he said "I blame the jacket for those bad years." This proves how he blames the jacket for having a bad couple of years.
