An interlude on Szeth. He’s sent to assassinate a newcomer in town. However, he’s best to it. He then his told that he has a new master.

Rysn is with Vstim, her “father,” as she was his apprentice. He meets with some merchants from a different land to trade good. The goods mean two totally different things in the two lands. He mentions a servant that was once traded to him (who I think might be possibly). At the end, he has Rysyn take the strange grass with her to care for to better her as a merchant.

Two ladies gossip about Lirin. Saying that he did unnatural things as a nurse and that he stole from Wistiow, Kal confides in his mother before Lirin calls out that the new citylord has arrived. Brightlord Roshone, the slightly overweight lighteye, steps out and turns back into his wagon before Lirin calls out. When Roshon asks who it was, Lirin replies. Roshon blames him for even being there and leaves.

Chapter 24
Dalinar meets with Roion in the Gallery of Maps hoping to convince him to hop on board with his plan to unite and engage in a full fledged assault on the Parshendi. Roion says he must think on it but Dalinar is convinced that he will deny the offer. Adolin comes to ask Dalinar how the meeting went to which Dalinar says poorly. Dalinar claims the visions tell him to trust Sadeas to which Adolin explodes.

Chapter 23
Kaledin, Rock, and Teft secretly collect knob weeds in order to get its sap for septic to save the men in bridge 4. They then go and milk them into liquor bottles which Syl had led them to. I’m doing so, Rock explained that his leader fought Sadeas to try and win his shardblade. After he died, Rock was made bound to Sadeas. Kaledin then explains a bit of his past after Teft asks.

Chapter 22
The Kings feast is taking place. Wit tells Dalinar that rumors are spreading about regarding his request to abandon the Vengeance Pact, Lady Navajo (Galinar’s widow) arrives, and Sadeas is made Highprince of information.

Chapter 21
Kaladin garners the help of Rock and Teft in bridge 4. After word came out of the work that Kal had done on the wounded bridge men, it was proposed to Sadeas that Kal should be hung. However, Sadeas rejected the notion. Kal took bridge 3’s duty and placed it on bridge 4. Bridge 4 would now go out and collect rocks for their duty.
