I keep seeing things about this book, so time to give it a try.

I'm enjoying it so far, vibe reading it out. Wish they had dwelled more on the dying and coming back aspect, but it's more of a trauma plot device right now. Where MMC and FMC are trauma bonding over how fucked up they are.

Gonna read the rest of this while listening to Radiohead. I think it will improve the story 😂

I think I'll like this book.

I am intrigued by the premise. Very similar to Once Upon a Demon's Heart.

20 pages is all it took to overcome the problem caused by the end of book 4. 20.

Maybe the author wrote themselves into a corner and couldn't figure a different way out or something. Either way, seems to have been resolved too fast.

Finally she threatened self harm to make him stop for a bit. That was literally where my head went first.

This is like a classic black and white vampire movie. Vampire stalks a young woman, creeps into her bedroom while she sleeps, and silently bites her neck.

Okay, I'm liking this so far. Starting out a lot faster than the prior book. A ton of world building has already been done so we can dive straight into the meat of the story.

I'm sort of enjoying this. Nice prequel. Kinda hard to get around all the hate between characters but also kinda expected from this author.

The letters mention days. 146000 days. That's over 400 years. How curious. My baseless theories are looking better.

Strangely, this inn only has a single bed available.

I still think they are the lovers from 400 years ago, but this basically calls it that Gavin is the one they call the Butcher. Pulls a freakin meat cleaver out to fight a monster. Screams butcher.

For my baseless accusation of today, I'm going to say the Smyth is the lover/husband of Christabel and that's why he has 2 rings around his neck.

And the reason he seems to know so much about Aryella is because she is actually Christabel. The curse the BBEG put on Christabel didn't kill her, but did take her memory.

As for evidence of this...eh. blame the tropes.

This really just reached out and grabbed me. Not sure why it feels so much easier to read vs some other recent books. Maybe because the settings are readily known so world building is super fast. Can infer more about the world since its our own.

Either way, enjoying this so far. Only issue I foresee is reading it too fast 😭

Why is this so hard to get into? Once again, there are characters I totally fucking hate, and they just need to die.

Everything I have heard about this book is that it picks up after 50%, so I'm trying to at least get there, but this has to be the hardest book I have read so far this year.

I'm just gonna toss out this random guess, but i say Ferris is connected to the dragon of the forest that is supposed to guard all the other spirits and stop the spread of the woods. Or even is the dragon.

Only took this long to get found out? Must be trying to set up the possibility of multiple MMCs.
