This is a modernised version of the original which I would recommend to those who have thought about reading C Tales but decided that the ‘Ye olde’ English was too much of a challenge. This translator has retained a historic feel whilst using largely modern English. This translation has been widely praised.

For those who have already read the book they might want to try the 1996 movie that featured many of the Monty Python crew. This version is has a slightly more adult/darker feel about it so though entertaining wouldn’t be suitable for young children.

“After all, the best part of a holiday is perhaps not so much to be resting yourself, as to see all other fellows busy working” So true 😊

This is beautifully written as I knew it probably would be after having read Circe. Maybe it’s bc I’m so familiar with the story that I still have Circe ahead in terms of enjoyment.
