3.5. Nearly a four. When this book is cooking it’s like some sort of cruciform anime. But I think its episodic structure makes it feel a bit plodding and meandering and repetitive. The book overstayed its welcome by a hair, and sometimes the language (though I’m sure a certain level of nebulousness is intentional) makes it hard to parse who is doing what.

Still love the message about faith and community.

I'm starting to think this might be a really bad book.

How does a human possibly use italics this much? Italics for emphasis in every single line of dialogue. Italics for interior thoughts. Italics for the names of books, movies, publications. Italics for labels except when one time labels are all caps no italics. It would take the same amount of time to italicize this much of a book as it would to write it. Oh my god.
