Man, the first half of this book was just gorgeous flowing prose filled with pastoral images of trees and a meticulous, exciting introduction to characters. The second half, quite like the life of a tree, slowed down considerably. While the entirety of the story was good, it lost momentum, and was less exciting by the time I got to the final 100 pages. Still a good book, but reader beware :)
