I'm taking a break from this book. I've been reading too many horror books lately, they are starting to feel too formulaic. It doesn't help that this book as so far stricken me as a very dissapointing collection of tales, which fail to both chill and avoid clichés of the genre. Hopefully the other stories will be more enjoyable

I'm still very much at the begginning but I can tell I'm going to love this book. The main character is selfish, ambitious and with very low moral standards. I love to read novels whose main characters are anti-heroes. Looks promissing.

I'm fairly enjoying it but not my favorite of the genre. I have already read "The Willows" and "The Wendigo", which are included in this edition and found that both stories do not quite live up to the high regard that most people have them in. A nice read but nowhere near M.R. James, LeFanu, Oliver Onions, Ambrose Bierce or even E.F. Benson, I dare say.
