I listened to it on my morning walk, which was a good way to not succumb to the urge to skim through the detailed battle maneuvers political wrangling. I'm glad I stuck with it because Tuchman really does have a marvelously deft way of illustrating at the end how the mistakes, mischances, personalities, and vagaries of the August engagements and decisions affected the course of the war and the 20th century.
