John is starting Temple Dusk: Zen Haiku (English and Japanese Edition)
She walks on an autumnal golden leaf blanketed path
through a garden in a small village in Japan.
A gift to us to her last breath.

John is starting The Buddha in the Attic
Just about to start. read her other one this summer, When the Emperor Was Divine,a glimpse at the Japanese internment during WW2. Somewhat dream like and not at all horrific...somehow everything seems to vaguely happen near or around the primary family in this operation...We'll see about this Buddha in the Attic or is it the belfry...

John is on page 57 of 480 of Selected Writings, Volume 3: 1935–1938
Three essays into this gizmo & I'm totally awed by this guy! Overarching syncretizing intelligence: art, commoditization, architecture, archetypes, epochal dreams of bourgeois markets evolving through 19th century Paris: arcades, dept stores, high end gunk...upper middle class striving 2 b & 2 show as the merchants enjoy the freedom of post empire France...But then 2 an extraordinary review of Brecht's 3 Penny Novel!
