Checking for the 10th time for progress: no, it wasn't an enjoyable reading (or rather listening, for I borrowed the audiobook version from a lib) experience to me.

The world-building is fun and clever and the plotline is ambitious. Being Chinese I've encountered many aha moments. However for exactly the same reason, I can't help but feel the book has borrowed a little too much from the real world.
