Michael is on page 153 of 538 of Pretty Boy: The Life and Times of Charles Arthur Floyd
This book is incorrectly titled. Should be called "Random history occurring around the same time Pretty Boy Floyd lived". Michael Wallis, you fooled me twice. Shame on me I guess.

I need to start paying more attention to authors. Had I known this was the same guy that wrote Billy the Kid I may not have read this book. Just like his other book, he spends WAY to much time on other things. So far.....little info on Pretty Boy Floyd and I'm almost 100 pages in. This will be the last Michael Wallis book I read.

Putting this down for a spell. Outside of a little info on the factory and chemicals involved in the disaster, I feel like I'm reading the same thing over and over. How many times do you need to explain the history of pests infestations on crops to explain the reason for the factory? I get it, move on. Maybe I'll try again later but for now I'm gonna read something else.

This book is hard to read. Not because of content, because the print is very small. As a person that requires reading glasses, it's a problem.

So far, not what I was hoping for. Mostly letters written by the killers. Most aren't very exciting or demented or crazy. Very little talk about the crimes they committed for the most part. Just expected more "damn that's crazy" moments. Kinda boring mostly

Just realized this is the same author that wrote Go Down Together, The True Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde. Which is one of my all time favorites. I'm really excited to read this now!!

Well I got 1 chapter that was kinda about the tiger, now it's back to general India history. What a let down this book has become.

Extremely disappointing. This book is NOT about the Champawat tiger. I have no idea how this book has a almost 4 star rating. If you are looking for a book on India history it may be 4 star, but as a book on the Champawat tiger attacks it is 1 star at best. I seriously can not understand the reviews of this book. I was mislead by the author and a good amount of the people that claim they read this book.

This is a book about India and Nepal history that occasionally mentions the Champawat tiger. I really dislike misleading titles.

Ok....now this authors bias is cutting into my ability to enjoy this book. "All 6 of these men were the ultimate example of sacrificing comfort and convenience to duty and concern for others". Some of these 6 men are the ones that pushed these people to proceed by attacking their "lack of faith" and obedience to their religious hierarchy even though they knew the risk. Were was their "concern for others" then?

I know enough from previous reading what kind of person Brigham Young was. This author is clearly biased. It seems he is blind to the terrible and selfish reasons this tragedy happened. Sugar coating the intentional risks these people were pushed into. I'm already getting tired of his excuses for their horrible and selfish decision making.

This is more of a sociological study on the people involved than a book about the actual flood itself. Trying to finish but not sure I'll make it.

Grrrrrr..... I HATE when books use a misleading title!!! Up to page 48 discusses the flood. Since then it's been a sociological theory on Appalachia and now a description of coal mining towns. NOT WHAT THE TITLE OR DESCRIPTION CLAIMS!

Pretty good. Doesn't feel repetitive once it gets going. Sometimes it's hard to remember which side some people are on because a lot of different names are involved, but mostly pretty easy to follow. This author definitely did his research.

Michael is on page 156 of 516 of The Devil Knows how to Ride: The True Story of William Clarke Quantril and his Confederate Raiders
Pretty good but feels repetitive though it isn't. This Union officer and troops go after Quantrill, they find him, there is a skirmish, Quantrill and most of his guerrillas get away... then this Union officer goes after Quantrill, there's a skirmish, Quantrill and most guerrillas get away.....then this Union officer goes after Quantrill....

Hopefully this changes soon.

Still no rebellion. Giving this book 1 more chapter to start with what the title claims. Not a bad book but so far I have read very little that I am interested in. I don't mind taking time to "set the table" but this is way too much for my taste. If I were interested in the history of Demerara missionaries I'd enjoy it more. But I'm not.

Michael is on page 40 of 576 of Sundown Towns: A Hidden Dimension of American Racism
This may be the first book I give up on in less then 50 pages. Clearly this author is politically bias. Treating Republicans like heroes and Democrats as the bad guy at first. But then when the Reps turn their back on and start treating the blacks worse than Dems, it turns into the North and the South. To me this book is more his theory on why things happened than actual fact.

Not sure who I'm more enraged at. Ken McElroy or the cowards that comprised the Skidmore population in the 1970s. This guy would've been dead a lot sooner if anyone had any guts. They didn't deserve it but they definitely asked for it by allowing one man to do what he did. ANYONE that ever points a gun at me and doesn't use it is DEAD the next time i see them without gun in hand. Period.
