i finished this book a while back but forgot to log it until today, I think sapphics should read this book—it serves so many roles a helps contextualize gnc and butch lesbian identities through so many perspectives. this book is modern, nuanced, and doesn’t skip a beat. jack halberstam is most certainly one of the most intelligent and prolific queer theorists of our time.

okay i think i’m back to reading—i love this book so much. this passage in particular on how a discourse of borders creates a limiting and exclusive purview of gender variance is absolutely brilliant. wow.
