I expected a slog, but so far I've found this delightful to read. I occasionally feel like I should know more about the French Revolution than I do, in order to understand some of the allusions, but I'm just letting those slide by for now.

I don't know why I've never read this until now, but I am beginning to feel it's a jewel.

After finishing the Chaos Walking trilogy, I thought I should get something more cheerful next time. Then I went to Barnes & Noble and went straight for more Patrick Ness. Ah, well. I'm ready for tears to flow but I know I'm going to love it.
