In listening to Howl (but not only Howl), I am bemused and amused how frequently Allen Ginsberg name-checks Denver and Peoria.
Love listening to poets read their own work: to hear their emphasis, their inflections, their emotional spin. In the live recordings, this is only heightened in hearing audiences respond with knowing laughter, sardonic knowingness, and slightly shocked appreciation of Ginsberg's naughtiness.
