Une écriture très poétique, très littéraire. On en apprend beaucoup sur l'ambiance dans les villages sénégalais, une perspective à laquelle je n'avais jamais pensé avant.

Very flat writing, no context, why is their relationship so sexual, I don't get the hype.

Seal instead of David is really annoying. I want to slap Jesse every time he says something. Can't believe the ratings are so high.

Lost the will to finish this book. Too boring. half-way through don't get the plot. The author brags about spending her whole life in Cambridge apart from the time she spent at the University of Oxford.
I skip half of the characters storyline's and skip all the over a decade ago bits.
The only thing saving this book is Goldie x Leo (what was that bea and vali thing where she murders him??! I stopped there literally)

“You know what I love?’ says Paul. ‘When they complain about the selection. Because that means that they’ve forgotten they’re in a camp. They’re briefly transported and they’re just people in a store, with money in hand, complaining about yoghurt.”

“He talks to me about dignity, about the humiliation of accepting charity. I listen, realising that we have both lost sleep over this specific shame. Days, months, when I’ve eaten meals provided by charities, governments, good people. In total, these days have made up a sliver of my life and yet, after decades of eating well and returning favours, I struggle to accept a cup of coffee. ”
