Its interesting but I am reading on my phone so it's kinda slow :/

Everyone is fawning over Annie Ernaux these last couple of years but honestly? Yh it's pretty okay, not so wonderful as it's made out to be. It's french "Beyrouth-sur-seine" but taking the pill and on antidepressants.

Too sad and unmotivated to pretend I am reading something intellectual. It's going to be a 60s girly comfort read.

Incredibly boring but incredibly interesting at the same time. I didn't sign up for a lecture on early Jewish sects when I picked up the book from the Judaism section of my uni library. I just wanted to know what happened to Muhammed the wolf and the story of the scrolls he discovered. There is insane lore for Christian people here though. Most of Christian rites are derived from pagan origins thru the Essene Order

2. Reads like a genuine fever dream

It unfortunately keeps going on and on about this stupid senile man, but now his "wife" is to be deported and we know he suffers from erectile dysfunction. And yeah, he is also sad.

How do I say this ? The first paragraph really intrigued me. But the whole, my dad is trying to marry this destitute Ukrainian divorcee 48 years his junior is getting a bit repetitive. It feels like having a veryyy long conversation with a senile man in the care home Valentina works at. And the animosity between Nadezhda and Vera is also very clear from the funeral chapter. No need to bang on it every few paragraphs.

It's really giving hospital placement. I think hospital based literature is just a banned genre for me atp

Une écriture très poétique, très littéraire. On en apprend beaucoup sur l'ambiance dans les villages sénégalais, une perspective à laquelle je n'avais jamais pensé avant.
