An intriguing read. I loved how the author has provided some examples which are conveniently omitted from the mainstream media. Learnt quite new things.

Learnt about the advantages and disadvantages of Enlightenment. Why Enlightenment philosophers believed that humans are selfish by nature and how we should play on that. Also learnt that, Hume believed that we should ACT as if people were selfish even though knowing that they aren't.
This is a bad aoproach where everyone is assuming everyone is selfish, A self fulfilling prophecy.

Its a delightful and a mind opening read. Learnt a lot of new things after reading 100 plus pages and i hope to learn more. The author has presented the facts highlighting that during crisis people help each other and not turn against each other.

Learned about the origins of Chalukya. Pulakeshin I founded the Chalukya dynasty. He came from a humble pastoralist family, named "Chalke" which was later named Chalukya. Before them the Kadambas were a powerful kingdom. Later his grandson, Pulakeshin II, expanded the empire from west coast to east coast, defeating Harsha Pushvabhuti who was famous king in the North.

Just read "Hunter Quatermains Story" and "Necklace". Two of the most engaging stories by the finest authors. I liked the deviation from the main plot to the subplot where the subplot actually becomes the main plot. And "Necklace" is a melancholic story where the underlying emotion is greed and regret.

Read the "Pit and the Pendulum" by Edgar Allan Poe. It was an ok read for me as the author has explained with too much details. The vocabulary is difficult for beginners, but i got the gist of it later. The story was satisfactory with enough to grab our attention.

Just finished "The Cactus" by O Henry. What a fantabulous read. The story is poignant and filled with emotions. How ego and vanity can slowly eradicate happiness from your life is written beautifully.
