There's a series called Ignatius Critical Editions and they have an edition of Dracula. Vampire novel with Catholic footnotes? I say bring it.

For anyone who thinks you need to check your brain at the door to be Catholic, I'm reading this for class. Also, Cardinal O'Malley quoted Nietzsche in his homily for our opening Mass.

Well this is new. I'm not hating it the way everybody else seems to, but it's got some quirks.

We must remember that the whole concept of the individual, as we now understand it, is relatively new in our culture. It's less than a hundred years old, and it is not invincible when it comes to criticism. Rampant individualism has wreaked havoc in our culture, and the ascent of the rights of the individual over that of the community has not necessarily lead to a healthier Church or society.

There is no wiser providence that our occupations, however rude or bloody, cannot wear us out morally; that such qualities as justice and mercy, if they really possess us, continue to live on under them, like flowers under the snow.
