Reading this to give myself a basic understanding of the main figures of the early analytic tradition and I find myself oddly not really liking Wittgenstein/logical positivism all that much? Might just be because phil. of language is neither my forte nor my primary area of interest, but this makes me long for the subjectivity of continental work like Being and Time...

The section on Hinduism was the worst so far in this book, and I can already tell Buddhism won't be much better since it seems Prothero fared better with the monotheistic religions. Probably bc he's more familiar with those. My own internalized bias makes me not want to finish this bc I already read the sections on the religions that really have power in the world...

3/8 religions down! I'm really enjoying this book. I think thus far the chapter on Islam was written the most beautifully but I have learned a lot about Christianity and Confucianism as well! On to the remaining 5!

I just finished the Islam section of this book! A fair and interesting but quick portrayal of Muslim belief. On to the section on Christianity next!

Not sure I quite like Heidegger's eternalist approach to time being a tentative presentist myself, but like I've admitted recently, Division 2 of this book isn't all that bad. I'm still not the #1 fan of phenomenology as a method, and I do think this book takes on seriously solipsistic undertones.

I don't agree with what he says but I'm starting to enjoy it a little more. Division 2 is much better in my opinion (so far)

I've hit the TIME part of Being and Time! I have to admit, I've warmed up a little to the last few sections, but overall I still hate this book

Hitchens disgusts me. Horrible writer, for one. And aggressively offensive for another. I'm very happy staying on the theist side of the camp if this is the kind of BS Hitchens, Dawkins and co put out...

Good lord his tone is condescending. Idk if I can even get through this book when there's a chapter called "Is religion child abuse" bye

Deeply enjoying Kant's style of writing. Also prefer him to Mill, who writes in a confusing and often dry style. Definitely helps that I'm not a utilitarian by any means!
