Finished Skull Face. A bit of a racist screed if there ever was one, with elder races and a villain from Atlantis thrown in for good measure.

Just finished Northanger Abbey.

Of course I was intrigued by the description of this exhibit of Walker Evans’s photographs in the Preface to Amor Towles’s Rules of Civility. I had to see if I could find the two photos of Tinker Grey from 1938 and 1939. Alas, they’re not real. This is a little fiction of Towles. Evans took no photos on the subway in 1939 that made it into this exhibit. And, precious few of young men from 1938.

Maybe you remember Liza Williams, columnist in the Los Angeles Free Press in the late ‘60s. This is a book of her columns from back in the day.
Does this qualify as light reading?
I certainly hope so. I had to look some to find it. Might have been more enjoyable to read the columns in their native habitat, but back issues of the Freep from then are $50-$75 on eBay. Whatcha gonna do?
