Michael Mayer III > Recent Status Updates

End of Part One. A solid start but there’s definitely something that bugs me about this series. We know the names and personalities of, maybe, 30 characters in this world. Everyone else is just a faceless Doug getting hurt or killed like pedestrians in a Michael Bay movie and I couldn’t care less. Meanwhile, the main characters are like the MCs in a House of the Dead game being run on a string with no choices.

On to the next… I think this remains my least favorite SA novel but we’ll see what happens on a re-read. I still clearly loved it giving it a 9.5/10 thanks to possibly the greatest Sanderlanche ever. I look forward to picking up in all the little hints and foreshadowing.

Enjoying this so far, the writing is very good and I’m very intrigued by the world building. Doesn’t feel like much has happened yet but I know to expect a slow burn that pays off by the end. I’m well prepared as that it all Malazan, WoT or Stormlight Archive is.

Back to Book of the Fallen! I’m stoked to get into this seeing as it appears to be set in my favorite continent of action so far. I mean, I REALLY missed Kruppe.

Here we go, Book 5, the middle book. Hoping there’s some… well…. Hope after that dark last book. Very intrigued to see how it all plays out.
