Ia para fazer um review destes dois ultimos capítulos espectaculares que li. Mas convenceram-me (i.e. obrigaram-me) a ajuda a fazer mudanças. Que se fodam os amigos! xD

Fantastic.
The scope is just breath-taking. Gene–culture coevolution has some powerful transdisciplinary potential within anthropology has a whole. Although, needs more testing with real ethnographic data, to assert how good it is compared to ruling paradigms in sociocultural 'sciences'. But the examples Wilson is using are very carefully chosen and fit well in his biocultural descriptions.

Here Wilson stops with the eussocial invertebrates. It was an amazing journey, disproving inclusive finess and kinship selection. After defending the more parsimonious multilevel selection, with individual and group as main forms, Wilson describes a new model for the origin of eusocial creatures. Now the rest of the book will be dedicated to human societies and culture. I hope he can deliver as well in this subject.

I'm not sure if I should conclude your little piece of "classic" if you continue coming up with these bullshits.

Wilson is going back and forth between explaining human societies and eusocial insects. He is at his best when he speaks about insects, no doubts here, and the info he provides is both fascinating and enlightening. All the hierarchies, specializations, etc. are mind-blowing, reading the world top expert sharing how he learned about this issues sure is million times better than learning them any other way.

MLS é fascinante, é impraticável ver evolução em espécieis altamente sociais sem selecção grupo, esta proposta teórica de selecção a vários níveis, encaixa a menosprezada selecção de grupo com as restantes (i.e. parentesco não explica altruísmo, actos heróicos). Transformando no alvo da selecção natural, não só o gene, mas um gradiente de micro a macroestruturas.

Pág. 63 é relevante para explicar como selecção de grupo difere imenso de insectos eussociais para mamíferos (Wilson e Novak vêm todos os membros da colónia como uma extensão fenotípica da Rainha). Pág. 64 resume as condições previstas para sociedades humanas sobre a luz de MLS. É interessante ver que até Darwin descrevia processos evolutivos nos humanos em pelo menos 2 níveis (grupos e indivíduos).

Interessante, então por parsimonia, selecção individual é suficiente para explicar eussociabilidade em insectos? Mas não em humanos!!! Aliás, Multi-Level Selection em humanos será um resultado de vectores em direcções diferenciadas: "[...] existe um conflito inerente e irremediável nas sociedades humanas entre a seleção natural ao nível individual e a seleção natural ao nível de grupo." - E. O. Wilson
