Oh my, but this book is so boring 🙁

He didn’t like the matter-of-fact tone to her thoughts and was surprised to find he actually cared if she made it out safely. He put it down to some side-effect of the trance, mutual concern being inevitable when two minds were joined.

He led them over in a rush, the men yelling at his back, either in eagerness or a desire to conquer their fear. Once aboard, however, he found there was little reason for trepidation, save the danger posed to a weak stomach.

I still have not recovered from the HUGELY DISAPPOINTINGLY DISAPPOINTING Queen of Fire but I am willing to give Anthony Ryan another chance because boy, the man can write, and I wouldn't want to miss another Blood Song-ish book (meaning, an excellent, beautiful, magnificent book)

Glad I took time to re-read this book. Worth it, really.
