I love this! What a pleasure to find a new favourite author and a new favourite series and heroine. May I compliment Simon that I seldom read men, as authors or protagonists. The win for me is that this is no dry policeman perspective. It is a fascinating, complex woman with a sassy past unknown to us that is part of our fun. It reminds me of Victoria Abbott, whose sleuth dubiously knows about police and steath!

Ah, charity book sales. They entice us to buy series pieces we can't do anything with. Simon Brett is one of the many authors awaiting a turn in our house. I have a good amount of starting volumes in each of his three series now. I sampled the introduction of Mrs. Pargeter's début last night, to see if I like Simon's style especially. The result? I love his hilarious writing and his spunky, intelligent heroine!

This isn't quite a mystery. We are shown what occurred in a small group on a week-end. It is interesting that one is unstable enough to do anything, one egocentric enough to think they could justify anything, and a neutral guest is pushy and less well-known to them. A word to English / Australian authors: please don't assume the rest understand things like "hen" and "bunk" (bachlorette party and skipping school)!

My spouse chose this as a gift for me on a trip in Indiana, USA, where used shops weren't at walking distance. So seldom is my wish list out of play, that I was touhed to try a book he thought I might like. Psychological dramas aren't my forte but it's good to sample genres and Ruth Ware is popular. Thiis gives the impression of being mysterious. One note- Ruth shouldn't assume Canadians know UK words like "hen"!

Another book this a pleasure, so well-written and enjoyable, that the mystery is rightfully a secondary sideline.

Back to a cast of characters I enjoy. I cannot do vampires but Charlaine Harris has two more series suited for me. Seeing one of these mysteries as a TV film, with Candice Cameron-Bure and Yannick Bisson, really lifted the interest for me to start these paperback books I had recently gathered and I was happy to find I liked the first one. This one is already taking me along for an entertaining and intriguing ride.

I am impressed! Sometimes having no depth to writing is a "cozy mystery" trait. Rhys Bowen fits the genre for light contents only! She is a real writer, who paints a sharp picture and bonds us with her heroine, even while Molly's wit and dialogue make us laugh. Rhys's novels abound but aren't trivial fiction! We experience in surprisingly realistic ship to dock detail, the historic Irish immigration to New York.

This is fantastic. I am inspired and enjoy every sentence, photograph, and page of this. I am going to give it five stars and will enjoy explaining why to review readers. It also makes me happy that this very local book, which was only listed in the Goodreads database without a photo until I supplied it, is becoming known through folks who have been visiting my updates. Everyone would enjoy this fundraiser story.

Wow, this is good! I trotted to 40 pages at 3:00 in the morning! I meant to try a few pages to see how I like Rhys Bowen before going to sleep. I am not a cozy fan, due to encountering a lot of weak writing and plotting. Years ago, when I picked up any mystery that looked good, at a bargain, I accumulated a scattering of her novels. I saw that I have the first book I need for this series. I dove in and love it!

Peter J. Peters was an innovator in Manitoba's agriculture. He raised the popularity of our potato and strawberry markets. He loved nature and was always grateful to Canada, as a child immigrant from a war. Hardly anyone has heard of him outside of Manitoba. The three of his poetry books that are in the Goodreads database are through me.

This is beautiful, inspiring, impressive, and special. I am more proud of Winnipeg and Cancer Care Manitoba and our local artists now, than I was when I was observing The Bears Of Broadway in person in 2005. I had no knowledge of what they are about and was as impressed as anyone, at seeing 62 concrete bears and their art in its own right. I would love to look at some of them again where they have come to roost.

This lady needs to desist with the word gentle. Another comment is that an action fan would say there isn't much of it in this novel, until the page I have reached. In regards to finding out information, it has all come down to people gradually telling the story. It is no thrill that several of them can tell all when they choose. It is less mystery-solving than staying strong and patient. Things may pick up now.

This is a pleasure, learning experience, and stirrer of local pride that I did not anticipate. I knew it would be pleasant, informative, and nostalgic book when I spotted it at a second-hand shop, without knowing it is a special limited edition. The story is told warmly, engagingly, and proudly;
showcasing the artists, the technical and logistical puzzles to solve for this fundraiser, and its Canadian milestones.

There was hardly any progress because my cute thirteen year-old tabby, Spirit, wanted to cuddle under the covers. He has started doing that while Conan has been missing over the winter. It is as if Conan telepathically asked his Dad figure, Spirit, to do that for me while he was away and it does cheer me up! I enjoyed Spirit's cuddle Conan-style and slept. This novel will zoom along easily next time I reprise it.

A treat to myself: buying a brand new trade paperback book! I am enjoying it. I must correct: even though Constance Walker switched the title a little, this was published in 1991. Not quite in the era of classic gothic mysteries I loved from the 1960s to 1980s but close to it. I want to point out that this is not a newly-created fabrication of the gothic style. It was published just after the genre's key time.

I really am enjoying this novel, well out of subjects I read. It depicts Americsan history, a little south of us, using a fictional vehicle and the fabulous Dorothy Gilman published it in 1963. Well, like any great action adventure, the pace and interest rise and "Bells Of Freedom" becomes more riveting as it progresses. I certainly look forward to continuing and finishing it tonight without nodding off this time.

I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I am. I should stop being surprised that legends like Dorothy Gilman and Phyllis A. Whitney can get even Canadians, interested in someone else's history. In this case, it is the British revolution with the United States in 1774. Our perspective is how an indentured boy from England feels and what he learns about what the politics and war in "Boston town" mean for everyone.
