If this had been a library loan, I'd have stopped reading this by now. I bought it, though, so I'm going to finish it after I switch to a better book.

This opens without a recap of the previous book, he's killing demons, then is teaching them like an elementary teacher. There's no scene transition to explain. I'm confused.

I'm waiting for the author to say, "ha, ha, just messing with you. The first part of this book was written by my little nephew. Now I'll take over now with a real story continuation."

The author is still trying to establish the baseline for the story and it's not jelling. It's a weak premise so far.

I don't like this book, but I bought it and people will ask me about it in conversation and I'll watch the movie to compare. It still doesn't help me visualize much of any of the scenes - almost seems like the author wants to leave the movie director and costume designers free to take their own interpretation.

I realized, in addition to this obviously being written to be a movie, that the author is doing a crap job of describing scenes. There's dialouge, and action, but I have no visual on what the gathering space looked like for the reaping, or what the district 12 characters are wearing. The character names are also picked to avoid matching anyone who might actually be alive.

I find myself not caring where this story goes.

This writing has the style of someone telling a campfire story.

Well that's disappointing. Got to Chapter 16, still in great anticipation of his recommendations, only to find that they're macroeconomic, national government level stuff. What am I supposed to do with that! Boo.

I asked for book recommendations in my Postcrossing profile and someone actually sent me some reasonable looking prospects! I added Our Missing Hearts, The Fifth Season, Project Hail Mary, and Babel from the postcard I received today. I need a break from LitRPG. The set of series I attached to are dead-ends, trying to develop a serial franchise instead of just telling a tale.

Ray has been posting chapters from this on his LinkedIn profile. I've been forwarding those to my Kindle. As with his other writing, there's a lot of history, where he eludes to some upcoming recommendations that never seem to materialize. Maybe he can't provide actual recommendations with his financial fame, but I guess it's summarizing to buy gold and domestic stocks?
