You said it the very day that he came up the mountain with the merchants to give me the red cloak. [H]is father was so angry with him for his violin playing that he was threatening to break his hands. Do you think we find our destiny somehow, no matter what happens? ...Do you think that even as immortals we follow some path that was already marked for us when we were alive? [T]he coven master cut off his hands

I dreamed about you... we were strong. We would go on forever. And we talked. 'Our conversation' went on and on.

As if a monster were about to get me. As if the house were a graveyard. As if I were afraid to raise the dead.

J.K. Rowling, one of the most successful contemporary authors in the world, speaks out publicly against suffering, injustice and discrimination... Her work has inspired other changemakers, too, such as the Harry Potter Alliance, which fights bigotry, violence, and abuse of power...

OOF
This was published in 2017, though.

When a sudden gust of hot air from a grate takes me by surprise, or the mist-covered moon appears, close and glowing between two buildings.
Then I recall the summer nights, the heat that lay along the Island like another stretched out body... And it confronts me, the fact I can't escape. That air with its distinctive aftertaste oxygenated my blood, gave me breath.

Half-way through and this is still a searching for Patrick book, and not a finding out what happened to Stella book. It's not necessarily a problem, but the cover says Clare is "soon drawn into a century-old mystery involving Stella Carraday" and does not mention Patrick at all--which raises the question of who wrote this cover summary??
