I just realized this, but I don't think I saved my update last Friday. I will rewrite it now :)
The theme of ALWTW (IMO) is that survival is challenging. Whether it's war or poverty, Salva and Naya both struggle to survive. In 2019 Shanghai, survival isn't exactly our top priority as it isn't a "challenge" for us, but in ALWTW, life isn't tooluxurious, relaxed, or enjoyable. Therefore, the theme of ALWTW is survival.

One text-to-text connection in this book is on page 77, where Don Pedro stated that the love of Claudio to Hero is like Romeo to Juliet. This refers to another play written by Shakespeare. The action of making references to his other writing is yet another attribute to his plays.

I am enjoying this read a lot. I will make a text-to-blank connection to show my comprehension:

One text-to-self connection I have about this book is how I hate unnecessary misunderstandings. In the book, Balthasar thought Don Pedro loved Hero, not Claudio. This made the dinner party extremely awkward. Therefore, I also dislike misunderstandings because they are annoying, confusing, and unnecessary.

I am reading a new really cool book for a tutor. I am enjoying it, and am here to make some connections. (Text) I loved "My Side of The Mountain", which I also recommend, it's also about running away. (World) The logic of teens and about-to-be teens is that they are treated unfairly by their family and want to be valued, and running away happens a lot. Thankfully, they eventually return home and discuss openly.
