I read the first book in the series of Percy Jackson, the lightning thief. This book continues to create suspense for the reader of what him and his friends are about to face. I like the setting the author has created in these books to better fit in with Percy Jackson and his friends' unique personalities. They shows strong determination to achieve their goals even if it's extremely difficult for him and his friends.

This book has some text to world connections cause in the book, the main character decided to volunteer to be a participant in the hunger games in replacement for her sister cause she really didn't want her sister to go. In real life, some people are brave enough to do certain things that might result them being in a bad situation to help others. She's really kind towards people she cares about just like many others.

I really like this book so far. I think that the plot is really interesting since at first everything in her life was perfect and going the way she wanted and then suddenly there was a lot of problems in her life right after her last year in high school ended. I like the characters and their personalities are really fun to read. I think that some of my friends are like this because this is pretty common to happen.

the character maya's a lot like me because she's also still in school and she's always really busy but still likes to spend time with friends. she's really smart since she goes to MIT and she's also sociable cause she's always texting and hanging out with friends. something we have in common is that sometimes things are going really well for her but sometimes she's having many problems at school and with other people
