I'm happy and disappointed-the book is small-my guess it doesn't have all of the letters

How come Amir Jan never vomited when he accompanied his dad to the flea market in America?-"drove for hours from EastBay to SouthBay..."!

I started yesterday_can't wait to read the follow up!

I think pages 222 and 223 are the best in this novel!

this part brought me tears despite the details Rahimkhan include in his story(washed our hands/rotten donkey/mountains like jaggedteeth)

Since Amir moved to US and the events are running fast/his reactions are colder/Intensity is lost/as if another writer is writing this part!

finally, I figured out "Soraya". It's supposed to be "Thuraya" which means "Star"!

I find it very hard to believe that Amir can fall in love with anyone!

I may differ with some of his philosophies, yet I love this book!

War is ugly!...I don't see why would Amer's father, who doesn't believe in God, defends a woman's honor!

this part is good-better organized and not phony!

Dr. Al-Aswany, enjoys dissecting his characters down to the core. No details are preserved :)

Alaswani has the ability to handle many characters and many subjects.This book is more like soap opera show.

"Was God going to judge us Muslims one way and judge Americans another way?-why God punish us Muslims when we commit sins..."made me smile!

I like how Al-Aswany explores the core of each character.

El-Aswani is a well organized writer;does he measure each paragraph with a ruler?

This part is sickening - where this story is going? truly I cann’t tell!

Erzsebet/Hungary/bathed in&drank virgins' blood-hunted young peasant women-hanged them upside down &slit their throats to drain their blood

Erik/Sweden-insecure &paranoid-anyone caught smiling, whispering or coughing in his presence was sentenced to death

I like her style…precise and focused…I wonder if she wrote other books?

too many characters...I'm feeling a bit lost!

I think Al-Aswany has a hidden sense of humor. His writing skills took a higher level in this novel.

I find“God-if He exists-strike me blind”very disturbing!Is that how Afghanistan Muslims talk?

Is the writer trying to make the reader hate the main character "Amir"?

I admire AlAswany style.Can't wait to read this book in Arabic. Mentioning Kathem Elsaher made me smile. Does kathem know he's in thisbook
